There’s something so sweet about being pregnant with your second child, the eager anticipation of meeting a new baby while still soaking in all the magic of your first. This beautiful in-home maternity photoshoot was just that. A quiet, love-filled afternoon with an expecting mum and her bright-eyed toddler girl, captured right in the comfort of home, even when it was a dreary, rainy day.

Styled with a gentle, natural touch, this indoor maternity session wasn’t about posing or perfection. It was about connection, about pausing time for just a little while to honour the in-between – the sleepy cuddles, the cheeky giggles, the way the little girl clung on to her mum when she was feeling shy.

She warmed up quickly, of course, as most toddlers do! Very soon, she was bursting with energy and joy, racing through the halls and dancing in the kitchen. There’s a wild beauty in that kind of freedom, and I love making space for it in every session.

In-home photo sessions are not about having a picture-perfect house. It’s about capturing the beautiful life happening inside it. The kitchen became a place of laughter. The couch was perfect for quiet snuggles. Even the laundry room surprised us with the most beautiful light. However what truly made these photos shine at this session was the connection between mother and daughter. The way they looked at each other, the way mum instinctively reached for her little girl, the joy and calm that lived side by side in those moments.

And this gorgeous mumma – glowing, peaceful, present – held space for both her babies in such a graceful way. This chapter before becoming a mother of two deserves to be celebrated. It’s a reminder that these small, ordinary moments are the ones we’ll look back on one day and realize they were never small at all.
