The beach that afternoon on Bribie Island was calm and beautiful as ever – soft light, quiet sea, and that peaceful stillness that makes you pause and take it all in. The wind was icy and the water far too cold to step into, but this family – mum, dad, and their four teenage daughters, took it all in stride. There was laughter, teasing, and so much love. It was the kind of family photoshoot with teenagers that reminds you connection doesn’t fade as kids grow, it simply changes form.

Photographing families with teens always feels special in its own way. The bond looks different from the early years, it’s less about being held close, and more about shared glances, inside jokes, and easy laughter. Watching these girls interact with each other and their parents reminded me that while the little years are fleeting, the later ones have their own kind of magic too.

As a mum in the midst of the preschool and primary school stage, I often find myself missing those baby and toddler days – when you were their whole world. But this Bribie Island family photoshoot was a lovely reminder that there’s so much joy still ahead. The laughter deepens, the love matures, and the connection only grows stronger!

Even with the brisk wind swirling around us, their warmth was unmistakable. They huddled close, smiled through the chill, and created memories that will mean even more with time. Every season of family life is worth remembering, because if you pause long enough, you’ll see there’s magic right where you are🤍
