5 steps to choose the right photographer for your family

Choosing a family photographer can feel a little overwhelming. A quick Google search brings up so many options, all with beautiful images and different price points. So how do you actually choose the right one for your family?

Here are 5 steps to choose the right photographer for your family.

1. Photography Style

Start by looking through a photographer’s portfolio. Do the photos feel very posed and traditional, or more relaxed and natural? My approach is lifestyle photography : less posed perfection, fewer gimmicky effects, and more of what your family really looks and feels like right now. The giggles, the cuddles, the in-between moments. These are the kinds of images I believe you’ll want to look back on many years from now.

2. Editing Style

Editing plays a huge role in the overall feel of your photos. Some photographers prefer dark and moody tones, others light and airy, and some sit somewhere in between. I love bright and airy images because I believe they feel joyful, timeless, and full of life – just like childhood memories should.
